Thought ...about AI and Bacteria

I’ve just been having an interesting discussion with a friend about AI.

My theory has always been a bit like War of the Worlds. In that story, the thing that ultimately destroyed the alien invaders wasn't bigger weapons... it was bacteria.

Lately, I’ve noticed a few interesting things. Some people seem to react a bit ropey when companies use AI-generated images in advertising. Others seem to get the "ick" factor from AI altogether. "you used AI?... oh"

And the more you think about it... why would you want to build huge data centres that consume enormous amounts of water and electricity at such a rapid rate?

So here's my question...

Is AI becoming the tribe that no one really wants to belong to?

Is it actually much cooler to work with humans?

Because we're living organisms, could we end up being the "bacteria" that limits AI's influence, not by destroying it, but simply by deciding we don't really want to hang out with it?

What do you think?
