If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been talking up a project I’ve been working on for the last three years. As with pretty much everything I do, it has something to do with music… but this time there’s a wee twist. 😉

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been talking up a project I’ve been working on for the last three years. As with pretty much everything I do, it has something to do with music… but this time there’s a wee twist. 😉
For the last 20 or so years, I’ve dabbled with the trade and released music when I could. But I had children, responsibilities and bills to pay, and, as is so often said to a kid who’s keen to pursue a career in music “Don’t give up your day job.” And really, I couldn’t. 👨👩👧👦
But here’s the thing: once a musician, always a musician. 🎸🎶 The trade is always calling me, and I believe it will until the day I clock off. ❤️
I love working with musicians, they are my tribe. 🎵🤝 The music industry, however? It really doesn’t feel that healthy to me, so these days I tend to stay away from that side of it.
Making any kind of income from recordings and royalties seems to be getting harder. The market is flooded with new music, and modern technology means “anyone” can do it now. 🌊🎧
And spare me those awful ads where a busieness wants to save a few dollars on music licensing, so they put a coin in the AI slot 🤖🪙 and out pops a piece of music that sounds like the colour of paint you get when you tip all the old remnants into one can and give it a stir. 😂🎨
But then again, I don’t know that it has ever been easy to make a crust from music.
This photograph is of my great-grandfather mining to earn his keep. ⛏️ But first, he was a musician. 🎶
And maybe that says something. Sometimes we have to do what we have to do to keep the dream alive. 🔥
I still keep mine alive. But the dream isn’t to be famous or rich or anything like that. It’s much simpler and achievable. ✨
My dream is to make music and sometimes perform it. ❤️🎵
My job is to entertain. I can’t solve the world’s problems, nor can I turn the music industry into the place I wish it were but I can bring a little joy into the world. 🌎❤️
So I just do it. I keep going. I keep mining. ⛏️ I keep making music. 🎶
That is it. That is the job. ❤️
