Thought bubble: On Sardines ๐ and Reinvention ๐ฑ
When I was at primary school, I joined the weekend tramping club. ๐ฅพ Someoneโs dad owned a truck, and weโd all jump in the back and head out to the Waitฤkere Ranges. ๐ฟ
I went on my own. I didnโt know any of the other kids, and parents let you 'fly be free' in the 70s and 80's. Iโd pack my own lunch, and it was usually an apple ๐, some scroggin and a tin of sardines. ๐ I donโt know why. Sardines were just my thing.
One day, while weโd stopped for lunch, an older girl came up to me in front of everyone and said, โYour lunch stinks and so do you.โ ๐ฌ I never went on a trek again.
And so began a long period of not doing things because "you think people will laugh at you". Wellโฆ that has changed somewhat. ๐
I donโt give a ratโs fig what people think of me these days, and Iโm rather enjoying shaking the tree with my random posts. ๐ณ๐ฅ You see, Iโm reinventing my music and art persona somewhat. ๐ถ
I donโt want to be an old duck ๐ฆ trying to force myself into leather indie-rock pants ๐ธ when Iโve changed. When I was younger, I wrote tunes that were of the time. Now it doesnโt matter. Iโm older, and no one is looking my way for the next new shiny thing. โจ And thereโs something quite freeing about that. ๐๏ธ
So Iโm downing a tin of sardines ๐ and taking a walk into a new musical glade. ๐ฟ๐ถ Itโs coming soon, like a slow train comingโฆ ๐
In the meantime, Iโm having some fun with these thought bubbles. ๐ญ
So please, let me eat my stinky lunch in peace. ๐
And please, please, please...no more advice. ๐๐
