Thought bubble: On Sardines 🐟 and Reinvention 🌱
When I was at primary school, I joined the weekend tramping club. 🥾 Someone’s dad owned a truck, and we’d all jump in the back and head out to the Waitākere Ranges. 🌿
I went on my own. I didn’t know any of the other kids, and parents let you 'fly be free' in the 70s and 80's. I’d pack my own lunch, and it was usually an apple 🍎, some scroggin and a tin of sardines. 🐟 I don’t know why. Sardines were just my thing.

One day, while we’d stopped for lunch, an older girl came up to me in front of everyone and said, “Your lunch stinks and so do you.” 😬 I never went on a trek again.
And so began a long period of not doing things because "you think people will laugh at you". Well… that has changed somewhat. 😏
I don’t give a rat’s fig what people think of me these days, and I’m rather enjoying shaking the tree with my random posts. 🌳💥 You see, I’m reinventing my music and art persona somewhat. 🎶
I don’t want to be an old duck 🦆 trying to force myself into leather indie-rock pants 🎸 when I’ve changed. When I was younger, I wrote tunes that were of the time. Now it doesn’t matter. I’m older, and no one is looking my way for the next new shiny thing. ✨ And there’s something quite freeing about that. 🕊️
So I’m downing a tin of sardines 🐟 and taking a walk into a new musical glade. 🌿🎶 It’s coming soon, like a slow train coming… 🚂
In the meantime, I’m having some fun with these thought bubbles. 💭
So please, let me eat my stinky lunch in peace. 🐟
And please, please, please...no more advice. 😂🙏
