Thoughts bubbles on ordinary things 🌏💭…

♟️ Chess, The Art of War, business… and life.

I was never very good at chess. 😂 I couldn’t see the play far enough in advance.

But I have read a lot 📚, and I think that has helped me enormously with strategy; in business and in life.

One of my fascinations has always been The Art of War. It’s been translated and rewritten into just about everything: The Art of War for Marketing, Small Business, Artists, Women in Business… you name it. I’ve probably read it. 🤣

Yes, I know. I need to get out more. 😆

But one idea has always stuck with me:

🧠 Know yourself. Know the environment you’re operating in. Then make your choices accordingly.

That’s partly why I spend so much time watching the zeitgeist 👀... trends, conversations, what people are saying and, sometimes more importantly, what they’re not saying.

Not because I think I can predict the future 🔮, but because understanding what’s happening around you helps you navigate what comes next. And this is for business as well as life.

These are stormy muddy river times and we all need tools. 🌊

Which brings me to something I wonder might become a thing…

🏠 New-build houses.

I remember the early stories about leaky homes. At the time I was a broke muso 🎶 thinking, How the hell am I ever going to own a house anyway? 😂 But those little stories eventually became a very big story. 🚩

Now I’m hearing a couple of other little signals. 👂

🔥 First: heat.

I keep hearing people in newer houses saying their homes get incredibly hot and they’ve ended up installing air-conditioning. This isn't good... houses used to be designed to not boil over. 🥵

🔧 Second: plumbing.

I’m starting to hear conversations about cheaper imported pipes and fittings. 💧

Maybe it’s nothing. 🤷‍♀️ Maybe it’s something we’ll all be talking about in another ten years.

That’s the interesting thing about trends. They rarely arrive with a flashing sign saying:

🚨 THIS WILL BE A BIG PROBLEM IN TEN YEARS. 🚨

Usually there are little clues first. 🔍 So I’m curious…

💭 What are you noticing now that you think is going to become “a thing” later?

Business 💼, housing 🏠, culture, technology 🤖, money 💰, how we live...anything.

What are you seeing before it becomes obvious? 👀♟️
